Christian Parenting & Caregiving Initiative

The Christian Parenting and Caregiving Initiative seeks to help parish leaders support diverse parents and caregivers, including parents from Latino and Native American communities and recent immigrant parents with younger children. Catholic Extension will gather parents and parish leaders for consultations and provide up to 50 parishes with grants to create cohorts of parents that will connect them with experts in early childhood education and help them engage in culturally appropriate and innovative practices for sharing their faith with their children. In addition, the mission agency will invite five parishes to participate in a multi-year pilot Family Faith and Literacy Program for new immigrant parents that will make connections between learning basic reading skills and catechesis.
