Faith Forming Families

The Faith Forming Families program will advance two objectives: to equip and provide resources for parents and caregivers to help them pass their faith and values to their children and youth and to develop new ministries in congregations to support parents in their role as primary communicators of faith to their children. CYMT will build on its established relationships with more than 140 alumni in ministry roles and its network of 200 affiliated churches to help congregations develop and refine theologically-grounded resources for parents and discern ways that congregations can best support families. CYMT also will create cohorts of congregations to engage in family ministry innovation projects to test new models for congregation-based family ministries that support Christian parenting in homes and that produce resources to help parents engage in theological reflection with children. In addition, CYMT will establish a graduate residency in family ministry to prepare future pastors to minister to families.
