Parents First Initiative

Lawrenceville First United Methodist Church will serve at-risk families by equipping parents to share their faith and values with their children and assist them in helping their children achieve academic and long-term success. Working collaboratively with the Georgia Center for Opportunity (GCO), Lawrenceville will provide parents with skills, strategies, and support from other parents to model positive behavior and help their children grow in faith. GCO’s evidence-based training program is based on the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets for Children and Youth. The collaborative program will gather parents into facilitated small groups to engage in discussions about faith and parenting and build a long-lasting parenting support system.
