Christian Parenting & Caregiving Initiative

Based in its Center for Ministry (Center), the Christian Parenting and Caregiving program will work collaboratively with three UMC churches in Jackson, Mississippi, that will form parenting cohorts of up to 36 parents each that will meet monthly for 15 months. The cohorts will focus on how families can engage in practices and rituals based on the Christian calendar and its traditions. The parenting cohorts also will participate in annual family retreats. Drawing on insights from the parenting cohorts, the program will produce resources and a certification training program for laity and clergy who wish to launch parenting peer groups in their own congregations.
