Foster Family Connect

The Foster Family Connect program seeks to help congregations develop and strengthen ministries for parents and children in foster families. Through retreats and seminars, the program will draw on trauma-informed care methodologies, which are based on research by Dr. Karyn Purvis at Texas Christian University on Trust Based Relational Intervention, to teach and equip congregations to create care teams to support foster families. Parents and caregivers will learn how to use these methodologies, including horse therapy, to share their faith with and care for their children. Silver Birch Ranch will build a new dining hall and meeting rooms for the program’s camps, training seminars and retreats with money already raised.
