Formed in Faith

Based in Whitworth’s Office of Church Engagement (OCE), the Formed in Faith program will have three phases. In the first phase, OCE will gather parents and ministry leaders to facilitate conversation around the needs of parents as they work to raise their children in the Christian faith. In the second phase, the program will gather representatives from six to 10 churches, including English-speaking and Slavic congregations, who will work with Whitworth faculty to develop new experimental approaches for home-based faith formation of children through Christian practices and then test these approaches with families in their own congregations. OCE will establish a local network of children’s ministers who will observe the congregational experiments and gather for mutual learning. In the third and final phase, OCE will evaluate these efforts and produce resources for a wider network of churches.
