Baylor University’s Dunn Center for Christian Music Studies, in partnership with Baylor’s School of Music, will connect, create, and train by Shaping Young Worshipers Through Transformative Music Ministry. This initiative will connect practitioners and academics across relevant disciplines through four regional multicultural learning communities. These church musicians, children’s ministry leaders, education and theology experts will work together to identify and respond to the current landscape of children’s music ministry and explore creative ways of nurturing children in worship and prayer. The project will likewise create inclusive resources for children’s ministry leaders, music leaders, pastors, undergraduates, and seminary students which address current challenges in integrating children into worship using music. Baylor CCMS will use these resources and its position in the church music world to train future church leaders to nurture children through musical and liturgical practices. The initiative is working to gather experienced scholars and practitioners ready to share experiences, perspectives, and questions about children’s music ministry.
