Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (CME) will implement the Reimagining Children’s Ministry through Worship and Prayer program. Serving 3,392 congregations in the United States and abroad, CME through its Department of Christian Education and Formation will engage local churches and provide them with encouragement and resources to strengthen ministries for children ages five to eleven. A professional team comprising pastors, children’s ministers, educators, curriculum specialists, and artists will design an annual, thematic resource that provides strategies for churches to include more fully children in worship and to support their prayer life. Each annual resource will be tested in nine pilot congregations and then distributed to congregations throughout the denomination. In addition, the pilot congregations will receive microgrants to design and implement projects to engage children in worship and prayer practices with their parents in their homes.
