Flagler College will assist congregations in making corporate worship more fully accessible and engaging for children who have experienced significant trauma. They will create a program that fosters an interdisciplinary approach to articulating liturgical interventions of welcome by engaging occupational therapists, parents, foster parents, and experts in developmental trauma theory. Working closely with Texas Christian University's Karyn Purvis Institute of Childhood Development (KPICD), Flagler will train and support two cohorts of six congregation each, as they develop and implement their chosen liturgical interventions of welcome. In addition, Flagler will carry out both qualitative and quantitative research to measure efficacy as we pilot this concept of bringing TBRI's paradigm of care into the space of corporate worship with the goal of walking alongside parents in the work of sharing their Christian faith.
