Lee University will convene an ecumenical group of congregations to help congregational leaders and parents integrate sensory-rich elements in worship that engage all children, including those with disabilities. The program embeds the Appalachian culture of story and storytelling as the core feature for nurturing children as they learn to embrace the story of God. With leadership from the School of Theology & Ministry, an interdisciplinary team of Lee University faculty will collaborate with an advisory committee representing ten local congregations to develop and implement an annual training conference for ministry staff and lay leaders, and workshops designed to offer strategies that up to 80 congregations can adapt to their contexts.
