Shaw University

Based at Shaw University's Divinity School, the Out of the Mouths of Babes program will equip children’s ministry leaders with theologically grounded practical tools that help congregations reinvest in children’s liturgical participation and prayer practices. Shaw will identify ministry coaches who have demonstrated evidence of leading and growing children’s ministries in congregations, and these coaches will facilitate six regional cohorts of children’s ministry leaders. In each cohort, ministry leaders will work with faculty from Shaw’s undergraduate Departments of Education and Early Childhood, Psychology, Visual and Performing Arts and Music to develop and test strategies for nurturing children through congregational worship and prayer. A new Children’s Ministry Resource Center at Shaw will collect best practices and distribute them to churches in the university’s networks.
