University of Dayton (UD) will support regional congregations to make worship more meaningful and alive for children with disabilities through Montessori-based religious education by leveraging UD faculty expertise. 12 ecumenical congregations in the Dayton region will engage with an interdisciplinary team of UD faculty partners to test and develop worship practices and aids, with the goal of enhancing worship experiences for children across various disabilities. Congregations will engage in an accessibility audit for both disability and children's needs; three symposia as well as workshops that focus on theologies of children and disability and Montessorian philosophies; collaborative experimentation with materials and worship practices supported by check-in meetings.
